About the Motability Scheme
Motability aims to help disabled people and their families become mobile by making a wide range
of cars available through affordable Contract Hire and Hire Purchase schemes.
The Motability Scheme was set up by the government in 1978 and since then it has helped over
2 million people become mobile. Motability operations is the company responsible for finance, administration
and maintenance of Motability Scheme cars. When you join any of the Motability car schemes,all or part of
your motability benefit (Higher Rate Motability Component of the Disability Living Allowance,or War Pensioners'
Motability supplement) is paid directly to Motability Operations for the length of the agreement.
How the car scheme works
